I use GoodRec for volleyball in NYC. There’s several sessions every night of the week at all skill levels. The quality control to respect each skill level is pretty good, as hosts can flag players who don’t quite fit the level for a given drop in. For example, I tried an advanced session when I wasn’t quite ready for it a year or two ago and the host flagged me. Then management reached out to me and offered a credit to check out a high intermediate session for free in a very encouraging and respectful way - suggesting that I gain confident on the court and strengthen basic skills. That being said, once I improved over a few months I was able to sign up for advanced sessions so it’s not like they blacklist you or anything. I haven’t attended any clinics yet but they’re always sold out and coached by a guy who played collegiate - I’ve had him as a coach at a different volleyball org and I know from that experience that his clinics are probably valuable. Finally, management is constantly reaching out promoting clinics and other volleyball opportunities, as well as reaching out for feedback which they seem to genuinely respond to and consider. Overall I think the format of the GoodRec drop ins is high quality (14 players and often some people don’t show so it’s easy to do 6s, whereas some other volleyball orgs have 24 people so you’re on for two and off for one throughout the session). Management is responsive and I’ve had positive experiences with all the hosts so far. Glad to have GoodRec in NYC!

This app is genius, it can be hard to organize games living in a big city like New York. This app is very well designed and all of my experiences getting games with Good rec has been amazing. Highly recommend

I like the capability to invite friends with a link directly to the same location and time you signed up and if not you can sign your friends up yourself. Everyone is there for a good time and some physical activity. Every game ends with positive energy and all players have a good time.

GoodRec is an AMAZING app, I had been looking for indoor volleyball near me for the longest time to no avail and finally was referred to GoodRec and found an amazing weekly spot to go to. It doesn't have to complex to be perfect. You pay for soccer games near where you are. No hiccups, no scamming, and also LOTS of availability in nyc.

This is a great app that allows you to find pick up soccer games any day of the week, in any location. Payment is automatic and built into the app. Wish this was around when I was a kid.

I really enjoy this app for soccer games in the Chicago area. A lot of old issues have been improved on (buggy interface, personal match dashboard, cancellation notifications, etc) and customer service is highly responsive. The playing level varies somewhat but is usually decent. Very excited to see more locations and games added in the future!

With GoodRec I can play twice a week with no headaches to find players and a proper field - all I have to do is to click a button. The host will bring balls and pinnies, so I really just need to show up and play. The hosts also play a big role in organizing the games and guaranteeing everything will run smoothly, with not slides or bad tackles. There are convenient fields close to my home and I’ve been lucky with the groups I join: people are welcoming, the game environment is competitive but friendly - either if you play well or not, so everyone can have fun. I even made friends out of these games - nice to meet people with similar interests. Overall, I cannot recommend enough this app.

I moved to New York last year and GoodRec was a easy way to meet people and get some high quality volleyball in. The people you meet here are generally friendly! Costs do add up if you play often though, so GoodRec could improve if there was a membership/bulk purchase option.

When I moved to NYC a decade ago I wanted to play but infrequent Meetup games made it difficult to get back into it after playing consistently when I was younger.
